This new edition made of enameled and fused glass is conceived as a series of twelve variations on the face of the moon, like an alternative astronomical calendar. The moon has become a recurring theme in Oscar Tuazon’s work in recent years. Whether in the form of paintings or drawings on canvas, marble sculptures, or as a motif integrated into architectural constructions, it has acquired a kind of totemic value. It acts as a symbolic anchor, a silent presence that runs across the different strata of his oeuvre. Through its universal character and direct relationship with natural rhythms, this cosmic reference indicates Tuazon’s commitment to a dialogue with the environment that, instead of monumentalizing it, highlights its invisible forces and fragile balances.

The artist
Oscar Tuazon オスカー・トゥアゾン

Oscar Tuazon was born in 1975 in Seattle, Washington (USA). He currently lives in Los Angeles. 

Oscar Tuazon’s practice draws on both sculpture and architecture. Using the vocabulary and tradition of the former and the materials and processes of the latter, the artist creates objects, installations, and structures that can be contemplated as well as experienced. Often made at a large scale, these works question the site where they are installed, be it a museum or gallery, the public space or the natural environment. They reshape our conceptions of construction methods, of how architectural and sculptural forms fit into the natural and built environment, and, more broadly, of the way we move through or occupy places.

His work is represented by Galerie Chantal Crousel (Paris), dependance (Brussels), Galerie Eva Presenhuber (Zurich, Vienna), Luhring Augustine Gallery (New York), Maureen Paley (London), Morán Morán (Los Angeles), and STANDARD (Oslo).
