Split Branch with Accents

Daniel Steegmann Mangrané was born in 1977. After living in Brazil for twenty years, is currently based in Barcelona.

Fascinated by the Amazon rainforest from an early age, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané has developed a subtle and captivating body of work nourished by his research into in biological processes and anthropological discourses. Through his installations and sculptures, films and photographs, he seeks to confuse the traditional separations between culture and nature, subjects and objects, reality and dreams, visible and invisible, or corporeal and incorporeal, dissolving art and its public in a relationship of mutual transformation.

He has recently shown at MACBA, MoMA, Bourse de Commerce, Taipei Biennial, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca, Museu Serralves, Berlin Biennial, etc. His works are part of the permanent collections of the Tate Modern, Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, Museu Serralves, Kiasma, Walker Art Center, MACBA, Collection Pinault or Hamburger Bahnhof, among others.

His work is represented by Esther Schipper (Berlin, Paris, Seoul); Mendes Wood DM (Paris, New York, São Paulo); Nuno Centeno (Porto).
