Pratchaya Phinthong

Pratchaya Phinthong was born in 1974 in Ubon Ratchathani. He lives in Bangkok.

Pratchaya Phinthong’s work engages social, economic, and geographical systems through subtle gestures, material transformations, and situations of exchange that often implicate the viewer. His practice frequently draws on processes of translation—whether linguistic, monetary, or cultural—to reveal the hidden structures that shape value and circulation. Working across sculpture, installation, and publication, Phinthong creates works that resist fixed form, instead unfolding through context, participation, and the movement of objects and ideas.

His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at SCAI, Tokyo (2025); Barakat Contemporary, Seoul (2024); Singapore Art Museum (2024)GB Agency, Paris (2022); BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY, Bangkok (2018); Lothringer 13, München (2013); Chisenhale Gallery, London (2013); Centre d’Art Contemporain, Rennes (2012), etc. He has also participated in major group exhibitions and biennials internationally, including at the Istanbul Biennial; Gwangju Biennale; dOCUMENTA (13); New Museum Triennial, New York; Taipei Biennial; Singapore Biennale; Dhaka Art Summit; The Center for Contemporary, Tel Aviv; Kunsthalle Basel; Centrale, Brussels; National Art Center and Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; 14th Biennale de Lyon; Moderna Museet, Stockholm, amongst others.
