Masaya Chiba
Scoop-type object
2024
Paper, wood, acrylic paint, screw
Ca. 29 x 15 x 8 cm
Edition of 9 copies, all unique, signed and numbered by the artist
This edition consists of a construction of wood and painted cardboard. It is a small object, similar to a model tree, both crude and fragile in appearance. Anyone familiar with Masaya Chiba's world will immediately recognize one of the typical accessories that the artist usually uses as motifs in his paintings. Reproduced on some of the paintings integrated into the sliding doors of his Yonkai exhibition, the object leaves the studio and takes on a life of its own. Between sculpture and painting, object in itself and subject of a representation, unique structure and exemplar of a series, its state is in constant flux.
